My solution was the same as Dennis’. I lightly sanded a small area of the fiberglass near the head of the quarter berth that would be next to the nav station and easily visible to the Coasties during an inspection, applied a decal with the number and the tonnages, and painted over it with a coat

Yes, Borax or TSP works great. Bleach takes the color out of it, but does not really kill mold. I prefer Borax for Mold as it is more benign, but if you have TSP (real TSP not the substitute) it works well. Josh has a good point. In some/most states you can get a title for your boat, but documentation is like a national title with a lien that can’t be ignored. So most lenders prefer that you register the mortgage with the USCG and get the documentation. Even the local credit union where I took out

Josh, Call the vessel doc center and ask for an abstract of title. It will show every owner, lien, legal action for the life of the documentation. When I bought Touché, it had a $62,400 lien on it that the PO had paid but had not cleared with VDC. That was a bit of a pain to straighten out. D
