So instead of attempting to remove mine I plan to grind the rim flush and chip off the few remaining letters. A small recess will probably always exist but the metal plate would sit flat on top of the whole scar leaving a clean and finished look of nothing but SS on clean fiberglass. I measured mine, it was: 21 1/8th inches by 2 inches Ken had an "R" I'll try to find.
