On my KR2 project i am missing the pitot tube and am not sure where they mount
them on the KR? No sign of any previous openings in the wings, possibly on the
belly? and
Put one of these under the leading edge of the left wing outside the prop
blast. The pitot tube opening must face forward and be in undisturbed air.
Static opening will be sideways to the air flow. (But, you already know
that.)

That's the catch... Because it is 'out of disturbed air', it depends on
the design of each individual pitot... For example, my piper-style blade
pitot has to extend further down, to make up for the fact that it
doesn't extend forward at all...

We put ours about half way out on the outboard wing. That is where I had it
on the Little Beast, and it worked very well.

I made a jig this morning and checked my exact distance from prop arc to
center line of the pitot. It is 12 3/4". If I go any further out it will
interfer with the wheel pant installation. I think that I will leave it
alone and see how it turns out. I'll be running the corvair again in the
next wee

I agree with Dan
Mine is halfway to the tip on the left wing and I have no prop wash issues.
With nearly 2 hours of taxi testing performed no false readings.
