You start it from the command line with the -listen option, like
vncviewer -listen
You can't put it in listen mode by a selection from the options after you start

The browser needs to support Java. To access a VNC server which is running on

If it starts with 10.,127., 192., or 169., it is not public.
Second - if it is not one of the above, try a ping to the server address:
ping 1.2.3.4

You may not have a valid default password for the situation when your user
account is not logged in - this is a problem if you have run the service helper
stuff. Check that a password entry exists in the following registry location:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORL\WinVNC3\Default
There should b
Rudi - that's awesome. It will also probably completely trash the usefulness of
the current structure of the registry-based configuration I suspect.
I will send you some comments outside the forum later...

This is just *way* too easy. The big problem here is that the registry is a
terribly insecure place to store this information. I can see now why the
documentation essentially says that the registry usage system is a crude
"short-term" hack.

Philip -
You may want to try running vncviewer with a log, like this:
vncviewer -logfile c:\vnclog.txt -loglevel 10
This should give a log of what the viewerr thinks is happening in decent detail.
If that is insufficient, a server-side log can be set up by adding this in the
registry:
[HKEY_L
I asked about this over the weekend and didn't get a response at the time (it
*is* an oddball question).
I'm looking for some info on implementing an equivalent of the Unix vncpasswd on
Windows. I can't seem to port the Unix version very easily, even with
substantial changes, probably due to my
Try changing that "-1" to 0.

What version of VNC are you running, possibly a TightVNC?
I am getting identical behavior - timeout doesn't seem to matter, whether I have
WinVNC running in App mode or server mode and whatever I have the Polling
settings at.
