one command. Given the frequency of crashes I am getting now, locking
1.6.x till 1.5.3 is reasonable.

How about a combination of both?
1. when lyx gets focus, check diskfile. if modified, set diskModified = true
2. when the buffer is modified and if diskModified, ask if reload the
file. If so, reload.the file. If not, set diskModified to false.

possible to set the very important options for foreign languages. With
\usepackage[german]{nomenclature}
e.g. in the LaTeX Preamble you will get a problem because LyX already puts

Uwe's windows installer for Lyx 1.5.1 reports that it couldn't find
firefox, though in my case it's certainly there, and in the default
