But I was not serious! And as I said to Bo, I could not fix this
seriously without being able to test (it is not just adding a few .c
files). 

And moreover, if scons using windows users had tested that (which I
requested), we would have caught this one.

Because when 1.X.0 approaches, people have this feeling that the end
of the world is near and they come out of the blue with new features
they cannot leave without (the "lyx will be useless if ..." syndrome).
In this case, it is much easier in terms of diplomacy to shut off all
new features before major release ;)

However, concerning my recent patch, the truth is that I am alone at
home in front of a brand new mac and I can do now what I have been
vaguely promising to do for ages. One final patch to commit and
localization on the mac will "just work". 

This is something I want to finish before Bromarv.

I would be annoyed if modifying translation strings was not allowed in
stable releases. I do not understand: you did this job of warning
translators for several 1.4 releases already.
