I found the issue – April 2016 edition of QST magazine. It is the cover story
and describes a Solar Edge installation and the mitigation experience – they
quoted about 10% of the system installed costs could be expected to be needed

Not a transfer switch. That is a simple DC rated disconnect, like the Square D

A transfer switch allows one load to be powered by one of two sources – a
multi-pole, double throw device.

The Combox can be directly connected via Ethernet, but it takes a bit of IT
know-how.
It is easier to take a cheap router with you and connect the Combox and laptop
to the router, and let it assign IP addresses.
I too am fighting a new install where the single MPPT 80-600 is partially

This number and extension should only be used if you have previously filled out
their online form to be included as an installer in their records.
We had an extensive discussion revolving around this new procedure in the
recent past here on this forum.

Nick,
I recall an extensive discussion here regarding terminals to be used for
battery terminals and the terminal manufacturer's requirement to use a
specific crimper with their components to maintain their listing.
It was the consensus here that the manufacturer could not exclude other

My initial problem was believing that the article applied to a component (the
battery bank), and not the system (all components taken together as a
generator/storage system). It is an easy misunderstanding to make.
Hope this helps!

Hi Mick,
Every pyranometer I have seen are simple devices that must be connected to a
datalogger which provides scaling, logging and ethernet interface
functionality. I have never seen a stand-alone device that has built-in LAN
connectivity.
Are you sure this is what you are looking for?
Hi Jay,
We have been using them at ground mounted arrays to allow us to de-energize
anything in the trench (DC).
They work fine, but need a little planning because of limited interior space
for conductor bending and conduit entry points.
We order them direct from IMO.

Hi Larry,
I am curious why you would use the 100Hr rate for this approximation and not
the 20 or 24Hr one, since that is the period in which Mac is reporting the
anomaly. Happy to learn the details!
Thanks,
