Thanks Brad.
I too tried to match up the threaded lifting bolt per their spec with pieces from McMaster for moving, and ordered eyes and nuts and adapters to do so. Went to the site yesterday expecting to use them, only to find that the lifting bolt on the stack was NOT per their spec, and it left me high and dry. Fortunately I had some 1” tubular webbing with me for plan B or C and was able to snake it under the pressure plate and used that to lift the bad stacks we had planned for that day. Turns out a good hand cart works just as well as a direct lift onto a moving dolly, so we abandoned that as well. Interesting about the 45 degrees on the quick start guide. I tend to ignore the glossy stuff and read the installation instruction manuals – 15 degrees is the only allowable tip mentioned there. Still getting pushback from the state EnCon about any liquid being disposed of at a landfill, so we may also be doing some experimental disassembly… Glenn From: RE-wrenches <re-wrenches-boun...@lists.re-wrenches.org> On Behalf Of Bradley Bassett Sent: Thursday, July 26, 2018 9:14 PM To: RE-wrenches <re-wrenches@lists.re-wrenches.org> Subject: Re: [RE-wrenches] Aqueon disposal They do not spill liquid when turned up side down, the valve only opens on high pressure. But there could be free liquid inside that would escape if they are broken. When I hired a couple of strong guys to move mine into place we tried using the eye and a bar through it, but that did not work well. One would need to find a way to prevent the eye from sliding on the bar. A bloody hand was had by one of the guys. They ended up using a hand truck. The attached document shows that you can tilt them up to 45° for up to one hour. My eye has moved on, I think I bought it from McMaster-Carr. I had to get a male threaded eye and coupling nut, they did not have a female threaded eye that fit. The cell packs also make good shop weights, very flat on bottom, just don't drop them. I kept a few for the purpose. The person there saw my big MSDS printout and said uh oh, but then she knew just where to look and said fine no problem drop them off. Too bad not everyone is that knowledgeable about what they are looking at. These are so much easier to move when you take them apart too. 30 lbs cell blocks. Then you have some interesting parts to do something with. Attached is a photo of my Super Aquion Gravel Tamper tool. Some of the other aluminum parts will get incorporated into one of my homemade telescopes.
