runs from the cockpit to just aft of the pilots seat, where it is connected to

asked Ken what he used when he built my plane. I asked if he used a Ray
Allen and he said no, he didn't use a model aircraft servo but did use
one designed for experimental aircraft.

I will be fitting a cable, and seeing your comment Mark about how little you
use it and such a small deflection, I could not see me going all the extra
work in fitting a servo.

I have a pretty small trim tab, maybe 3"x6", with about 25 degrees of
deflection in each direction. It's way more than I need for normal flight
throughout the weight range, but when the flaps are down, it's not enough to

Your trim indicator signal is either at a D C level, or at a low audio
frequency. The radio frequency is much higher, and is being rectified to a D C
signal at the input of the indicator.

Almost any outside powered mirror will supply you with a trim motor. Try
buying one with a broken glass--they will be at giveaway prices. The screw
that moves the mirror is a 1/4-28.

Not sure.. but I think there is an FAA requirement that there has to be an
indicator in the cockpit that shows the physical position of the elevator trim
tab. With the manual lever you can tell by the position of the handle.
The sensor/indicator will be the tricky part!
