Why don't you just set up your email program to block all
email from California? Add Florida to the list too, lots of
spammers using the major ISPs in that state....

If you look at my headers you will see that I am an SBC
subscriber. Wasn't always that way, SBC came along and
swallowed up the dialup I used to use, which had in turn
swallowed up my previous dialup. The DSL company I used,
which had swallowed up the one I initially signed up with,
shut down leaving all its customers stranded, and there I
was, left with the choice of SBC and Earthlink (leasing SBC
lines).

So yeah, I use SBC. I can't count the number of ISP's I have
used in the past half dozen years that have gone belly up,
and I finally gave up and figured that at least SBC has a
good chance of still being in business and offering a
connection in a year from now.

ALL the big ISPs and internet hosting companies have
spammers on them, because they are huge companies with too
many millions of subscribers for the companies to closely
monitor what is going on until they get specific complaints,
and a savvy spammer will sign up for an account, spam, and
then be long gone well ahead of the time the overworked
abuse department catches up.

Do I support big corporate conglomerates? No. But I have to
live and do business, and that means that reliability is
important.

The spammers aren't using SBC or Qwest or uu.net or whatever
they have chosen because those companies are spam supporters
in a world full of diligent ISPs hard at work protecting
their customers. The spammers are using the same companies
the rest of us choose because those companies are pretty
much the only game in town.

Which is why Spews is such a joke. SBC really doesn't have
to worry about losing customers when there is no place for
them to go, so boycotting isn't going to get anywhere other
than to inconvenience the thousands of innocent customers
whose email is blocked because they happen to live on the
same planet as the spammers.
