C server. Is this a WinXP bug? Is there a work around?
I am going to move the server box to my father in law's and would
rather solve this problem while it's still with me. Thank you in

client with "Only accept connections from the local machine" selected and not

The reason I am trying
to disable the wallpaper is that the server's ISP (NTL in the UK) has very
high contention ratio and at busy times terribly poor speeds. A 2M adsl line
is performing as a dial up!
Do you know if it is possible to switch off the wallpaper and how?

RealVNC servers. So I assumed that the server settings affect what is fed to

down each computer before I connected them to the Internet. I always use VNC
through ssh tunnel, with secure key authentication and to my knowledge have
not had any compromised cases to date. The VNC documentation is the best
place to start.

connections to your home machine from only this address (additional

I have not installed Xvnc on Linux so I don't know what the binary should be
run as. However, the error you mention is about /usr/local/bin/Xvnc
not /usr/bin/Xvnc.
So, if Xvnc does not exist in /usr/local/bin/ you may have to create a symlink
to /usr/bin/Xvnc.

Have you tried being a bit more detailed with the rule you create in Norton?
Specify ports, protocols, MAC addresses and IP addresses, from/to, to see if
it makes a difference.
