Dear Riki,
I have positioned the conflict in cls file:
\RequirePackage{pifont,latexsym,ifthen,theorem,rotating,calc}
\theorembodyfont{\itshape}
\theoremheaderfont{\normalfont\bfseries}
\setlength{\theorempreskipamount}{6pt plus 2pt}
\setlength{\theorempostskipamount}{6pt plus 2pt
tuff into this file (so LyX knows
about it), but REMOVE the preamble parts, which are what are causing the
conflict.

A question for the rest of the list too, and linux heads...
I got LyX to see the larkc.cls on win but it doesn't work on ubuntu.
I placed the .cls and figures here
/usr/share/texmf-texlive/tex/latex
LyX sees the layout just fine, but renders it like 'book'.
this is the layout
Thanks Vincent,
I'm use Luke Simon's layout as posted on this list:

Is it no longer compatible with LyX?
After another look at -dbg debug I see:
LyX: Could not find input file: obsolete.inc [around line 515 of file

*.cls files are missing. For example,
when I tried the template elsarticle.lyx this error message came up.
elsarticle is a template for the Elsevier scientific article document class. It is used for journal
publications in Elsevier journals. If you need to use this document class, you have to

Dear All,
I updated to MacTeX 2009 and LyX 1.6.4.2 and now LyX cannot locate a CLS file
that I was using.
I have it located in /usr/share/texmf/tex/latex currently.
Is there any way to get LyX to see the CLS file again?
Thanks!

How do I know it's based on book? Because this line:
\LoadClass{book}
is in the cls file.
Sorry, I forgot to mention that:
1) I put the uocthesis.cls file in usr/share/texmf/tex/latex/
2
ll forget about whatever was undefined.

Where did you put that file? It is not sufficient to just put it in the
same folder as the .lyx file, it needs to be in some latex path,
27;), type `I' and the correct
spelling (e.g., `I\hbox'). Otherwise just continue,
and I'll forget about whatever was undefined.
Any help would be much appreciated.
