You know, I am just thinking that maybe the pump is wired directly to the
battery but I have never left the toggle in the ON position when I nleft the
boat. I will have to try that , fill the bilge with some water, then turn off

I agree you want it straight to the battery and also maybe parallel to the
switch.but straight to the battery will turn it on when the float switch in
the bilge activates it. Make sure to put an inline fuse in series with the
power line (+) at the battery terminal

I just did the test on my boat. With the battery switch off, I toggled the
3-way bilge pump switch from AUTO to ON. I wanted to check if the pump was
hard wired to the 12 V system. The pump came on, so I know that if I leave

When ULSD came to Canada I had concerns and did some research. Some of the info on the Web was contradictory so to be on the safe side I started adding a lubricity enhancer. $20 for a big bottle from NAPA. I sail on a lake and don't use a lot of diesel - 1 tank lasts at least 3 seasons.So I top up

Accomac is located on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, it is about 20 miles south
of Pocomoke, MD which is south of Salisbury, MD which is about 8 miles south of

That's a nice bilge pump switch.
Our boat's bilge is flat and has no sump, so we pump it down as far as possible
before each sail. Otherwise we get water running up over the floorboard edges
when she heels. Sometimes I forget during the rush to get everything set before
leaving the doc
Also, I am switching over to Ultra Safety Systems bilge float switch when
clients are willing to pop for a few extra $$$. I think they are better
switches than the Rule float switches. More less subject to trash, etc.

We just might. My wife LOVES the LF38 layout.
Last one we looked at for $49K, described as a great boat, had:
Leaking fuel tank
Reeked of diesel
Reeked of mold
Hatches leaked
The cabin sides had swollen and split aft of the ports.
It was barely worth scrap value IMHO.
