Dennis, That's a nice bilge pump switch. Our boat's bilge is flat and has no sump, so we pump it down as far as possible before each sail. Otherwise we get water running up over the floorboard edges when she heels. Sometimes I forget during the rush to get everything set before leaving the dock and your switch near the helm would be very convenient.
Thanks for the great ideas, Chuck Resolute 1990 C&C 34R Atlantic City, NJ ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dennis C." <capt...@yahoo.com> To: cnc-list@cnc-list.com Sent: Tuesday, March 12, 2013 10:41:33 AM Subject: Re: Stus-List lovet bilge pump Dan, When I install/wire bilge pumps with float switch, I use a Rule #43 or Blue Sea 8263 rocker switch with built in fuse. I wire the power to the switch to the back of the main battery switch (Perko) to the post for either the #1 or #2 battery. Functionally, it's wired to the battery but isn't in the battery box. The only wiring in the battery boxes should be the + and - battery cables. Dennis C. Our (new for us) 1980 cc32 has a lovet bilge pump. But I believe it is wired so that it goes on automatically only if the pump switch on the bulkhead is switched to ON, But this means, the power to that switch has to be on, even when we are not on the boat. I am reluctant to leave that switch on when we are not on board because that means power would be on, also. Our previous boat had a small bilge pump wired directly to the battery, so when water hit a certain level, pump would go on. Any thoughts? thanks Dan Mc _______________________________________________ This List is provided by the C&C Photo Album http://www.cncphotoalbum.com CnC-List@cnc-list.com _______________________________________________ This List is provided by the C&C Photo Album http://www.cncphotoalbum.com CnC-List@cnc-list.com
