One of the best things about vnc (all variants) is that it does what it is
designed to do. Nothing more and nothing less. The only design
Hi, Fredrik,
by running "vncviewer /listen" and checking netstat -an I found out that it
listens on port 5500. I have no idea if this port can be changed other than
changing the source code.

We use VNC in a helpdesk environment. We support hundreds of servers and
thousands of workstations for our customers using VNC and the phone as the
first stop. We can solve most things that way. If you've got any specific
questions, bounce 'em off me and I'll see what I can tell you.

Matthew,
Have a look at the following website:
http://www.smtechnologies.com/downloads.htm
They have a version of VNC that uses NT Authentication, you could use NT's
security to lock account after X attempts.

I heard what you are saying here.
What exactly is the use of WinVNC?
I have been using pcAnywhere for file transfer. When DSL system was

Yeh.. but i tried several times and each time both port 5400 and 5500 were
dependent on the listener.

This is strictly my opinion but...
The best thing about VNC is it is free and source code is available
if you feel the need to alter it. It is also a fairly tight little program in
