What I get is about 14MB/sec of data transfer. that's when I setup a apache
server on 1 computer.
and use a windows computer to connect to this server and download a 100mb
using getright downloader.
Apparently, I have a hub between these two.
With a crosswire the speed improves to about 16MB/sec. t
? ofcoz u cant use getright here.

Try SuSE, I have installed and upgraded SuSE directly from internet many
times.
SuSE is much better and will be best in future, then RedHat as RedHat
refused to join UnitedLinux and SuSE has.

Does the problem solve when u keep try it with a smaller number ?
say a number between -32767 to +32767 ?
I think u need to use some other float datatype something that supports larger numbers.
Not sure though.

I think float cannot hold more than 32bit, ur number is definately more than 32bit.
try double its 64bit
and long double i think is 80 bits ? or 82 bits not sure about long double.
Atleast try your program with using double or long double !!

if you want to sync the data just type "sync"
else if you are the tod-phod kind wanting to play with journaling systems
try XFS it's better than ext3.
