Hi Malkiat

I have tried this on many systems here, and it worked.
After booting I just used following comand on two consoles:

Console 1:
cat > /dev/ttyACM0

Console 2:
cat < /dev/ttyACM0

Console 1:
type "ATH" or "+++", without quotes.

Console 2:
displays OK.

This means modem is working.

Did you try this ?
Tell me whether you get OK or not.

Subject: [ilugd]: MODEM PROBLEM IN LINUX RH 7.3 (MAKE USB FRONTECH 56K/V.90

Dear all,
I regret to say that upon checking up the CD supplied with the subject
modem, I did not find any driver for it which is compatible for Red Hat 7.3.
As its a window based modem and I tried to enquire from the manufacturer if
they are having any driver for linux for their modem. They expressed their
inability for the driver presently or even in near future.
But I am hopeful that it would function without a driver as one of the
fellow, Mr. Amit Goel was kind enought to provide me his guidance which I
had followed but of no avail. While linux is booting it detects my USB
device as OK.
I would like to know from you that if is there anyone who can provide me his
valuable guidance regarding its configuration/installation (in case of
absence of relevant modem driver). Secondly, if any of you guy is having a
good knowledge about configuring it through firing minicom then please
oblige me for this as I had tried it to configure using minicom and
assigning it interface as ttyACM0, ttyACM1, ttyACM2 and so on which are
meant for USB port but it did not work. After assiging these ports when I
try to initialize this modem it does not respond with OK. Thirdly, please
guide me how I should use the AT command to know if my modem is responding
properly. Lastly, is there any way except minicom through which I can
configure my modem and make it functional.
Please guide I shall be very much thankful to you all. Pl. also provide your
contact No. enabling me to contact you over phone in this regard.
With Best Wishes,
Malkiat
PS : I really appreciate the efforts of one of our fellow Mr.Abu Muttalib
for guiding us regarding making a PC as multiboot system and I owe a great
deal to him for the same. So any of you guy who can share his experience
regarding subject matter then it would be a great use not only for a linux
user like me but also to lot of others who come across such kind of problem.
