14MBits/Sec = 1.75Mbytes/s

BTW what the max writing speed of your hard disk ? ;o)
hardware/in windows and in linux.
No idea about the overhead.
Try this...install apache in the linux machine, and then use your browser to
download a 100mb file from the same computer.
whats the download speed ? ofcoz u cant use getright here.
