My latest Fedora upgrade left me with a US-international setup
that caused a few keys to stop working. Qoute keys became "dead" prefix keys.
The tools I use to fix this are xev and xmodmap.
Using xev you can see what the key generates and xmodmap allows you to
change the key to what you want.
I'm not clear on how restarting Fvwm would matter.
Fvwm is really just working with the keys as generated by the X Server.
Maybe you should post more info on what your keys are generating and how
you restart fvwm. I don't have much experience with KDM. I always get
the
feeling that these DM things are doing something mysterious.
I boot to run level 3 and let my profile run startx.
That reads my .xinitrc which runs xmodmap early on to get the keyboard
working to my satisfaction.

res_class and res_name are explained in the ICCCM.
For our purposes, they are just 2 of the fields Fvwm uses
for style matching. Both can be displayed for any window

A while back I made some of the default colors blue so there is
a difference between 1995 and today. Not a big difference, but
it is different. Also we've slightly grown the default config with
a menu that can invoke XDG compliant programs.

Yes, there is a default built in iconbox that you cannot remove.
On purpose.
With Fvwm you get the core and modules are free to do what
they want.
The core of Fvwm uses the iconbox to represent minimized
applications. If you want some module to take over
you should tell fvwm you want "Style * NoIcon".
Some time in the future I'll try to update the docs for
iconbox.

If we had a volunteer to do "drudge" work it would be nice
to move off docbook to something easier to use.
I think Fvwm should packaging some kind of .Desktop file.
Wouldn't that get Fvwm into some kind of preferences menu so
a non-fvwm user could just select Fvwm?

fvwm might implement something. Personally, I have no use for it.
To find out what's going on, I found the search terms "linux multitouch"
helpful. Some points to note: multiple pointers is not multitouch,
the existing pointer events are probably not sufficient. At least one
developer proposes new events.

Use:
fvwm-config --default-imagepath
to see that path.
Look in your .fvwm2rc to see if imagepath is modified in any way.
Then look in your .xsession_errors to see if Fvwm is printing

I get it myself and it's not telling me anything I want to know.
Currently it just prints the first 5 times it fails, then shuts up.
That message should probably only print when "printinfo locale" is
1 or 2...

Anything more technical from the Wine folks than it's Fvwm's fault?
I vaguely recall some settings in Wine about how it interacts with
the WM. Are they still there, and have you tried different settings?

Not in this case.
Modules run asynchronous but not PipeRead.
You should pass variables through the PipeRead command.
Maybe if you gave more information about what you want to do.

is it FvwmDebug?

You just start with no config.
Press any mouse button, or the F1 or Help key on the root and you get
MenuFvwmRoot. From there you choose 2 ways to build a starting
config file. Either one is better than using system.fvwm2rc.
