No, xcursor support is a separate feature.
You would need 2.5.22 or later to see whether there is xcursor support
in your copy.

I'm still guessing that's why you don't see xcursors.

Your best bet is download and compile yourself.
During the configure phase you will get a message about
whether you have xcursor support or not.
