I've been having problems with certain software's (openal, artsd) ALSA output being transposed up ~1 tone. Today I figured out that it had to do with the dxs support, and eventually settled on dxs_support=5, which works perfectly. However, I think it's likely that the issue with transposition is

I have got my Sound Blaster Live! card correctly installed and running with
ALSA, and everything works fine, all applications play sound correctly, until
I reboot Linux at which point not all applications play sound correctly. Most
do, but some applications (I think they all use /dev/raw) just
supported card nor is it
mentioned in the INSTALL file. So what do I do to get this funky card
and especially the SPDIF output to work?
I know Mandrake 8.2 with the old 0.5.x ALSA just treated it as an intel
810 sound system. That worked fine, but probably wouldn't help me use SPDIF.

I just compiled 0.9.4 on Mandrake 9.1 with the Multimedia patched
kernel. I installed the drivers, alsalib, utils & envy24control packages
from source.
All goes well until I try to start ALSA.

I have an M-Audio Audiophile card that works fine on this Mandrake 9.1
installation but I can't get the USB mic on the Logitech Quickcam 4000
to work.

I am using PClinuxOS 2007 which has libalsa2-1.0.14 and
kernel-2.6.18.6 installed. The card is detected as an ice1724 but the
mixer controls are weird and nothing actually I do actually produces
any sound.
