Hello all, I am attempting to install the latest alsa, and am following the instructions at:
http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-doc/doc-php/template.php?company=VIA&card=&chip=via8233a&module=via82xx I have the following setup: OS: Mandrake Linux 9.1 Sound: Via 8233 on a Gigabyte GA-7VA motherboard CPU: AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2100+ alsa revs: alsa-driver-0.9.7c, alsa-lib-0.9.7, alsa-utils-0.9.7 I am following the instructions on the web page *very* carefully, and have come unstuck. I would value any tips or suggestions people can offer. When I get to the modprode stage, (after compiling and installing each of the three source packages), I get the following error: [EMAIL PROTECTED] alsa]# modprobe snd-via82xx /lib/modules/2.4.21-0.13mdk/kernel/sound/acore/snd.o: unresolved symbol snd_verbose_printk modprobe: insmod /lib/modules/2.4.21-0.13mdk/kernel/sound/acore/snd.o failed modprobe: insmod snd-via82xx failed I tried to track down the snd_verbose_printk symbol using nm, and also tried: ./configure --with-cards=via82xx --with-sequencer=yes --enable-verbose-printk on the alsa-driver package, but to no avail. Is this perhaps a configure bug? Regards, Simon Taylor [EMAIL PROTECTED] alsa]# modprobe snd-via82xx /lib/modules/2.4.21-0.13mdk/kernel/sound/acore/snd.o: unresolved symbol snd_verbose_printk modprobe: insmod /lib/modules/2.4.21-0.13mdk/kernel/sound/acore/snd.o failed modprobe: insmod snd-via82xx failed -- Simon Taylor [EMAIL PROTECTED] ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) -- http://www.fastmail.fm - Same, same, but different… ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email sponsored by: Enterprise Linux Forum Conference & Expo The Event For Linux Datacenter Solutions & Strategies in The Enterprise Linux in the Boardroom; in the Front Office; & in the Server Room http://www.enterpriselinuxforum.com _______________________________________________ Alsa-user mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/alsa-user
