I'm new on ALSA (I know, OSS is bad for me ;c).
I'm playing w/ that on a FX43G mainboard (SK43G shuttle box) which is based on the VT8237 chipset. On it, we can find this multimedia controller :

I've compiled ALSA as a module on my linux-kernel 2.6.3.

then, if I try to play a sound, every channels (on my 5.1 sound kit) are quiet, exept the surround one. And to get this (which is the best that I can), I had to set up the "Duplicate front" option, 'cause without it, I can get no sound at all.
you can find my mixer values in the attached file, got w/ amixer.
I have those options in my /etc/modules.conf and /lib/modules/modprobe.conf (I'm on Debian SID).
