because it is NOT a mature product. Both alsa and linux kernel are

Why? *Many* software still requires OSS emulation, sfxload being
If so, which Distro, which Alsa version?

Hallo everyone,
I've recently switch to the 2.6.0 kernel and I've decided to

I've enabled ALSA into the kernel *without* OSS emulation and

PCM playback now works. I've my brave alsamixer and alsaplayer

haven't got any answer whether it is a known bug/configuration problem or
anything else.

Hi,
I faced a problem trying to get sound using ICH5 based motherboard.
chipset - i875p (ICH5),
ac-97 codec - Realtek 658,

kernel 2.4.21,
alsa-driver 1.0.1,
kernel module used: snd-intel8x0,
mixer: gnome-alsamixer,

Hi,
This is how it should work.
Not every control must have mute.
You don't need to set capture source - just set capture volume for
sources which you want record and set capture volume to 0 for sources
you don't want record.

You can either use the appropriate version of the alsa-lib/utils
packages, or you can disable the ALSA drivers in the ker
