Hello:
Over the past few days I have been trying to set up
a SB Live 5.1 Card on my SuSE 9.0 - 2.4.21 system to work with a set of Philips
Analogue 5.1 speakers....
So far I have not had any luck in getting these to
work - as the centre/digital output seems to always be digital even though I
have specified analogue and also I cannot seem to get the satellite (back)
speakers to work. Thus the centre speaker constantly produces a
horrible crackling sound ..
However, when I did play a 5.1 DVD in Xine, I was
able to get actual sound out of the centre speaker ... but when playing non 5.1
dvds or TV, the horrible crackling sound returns.
I have an older 4.1 soundblaster live card which
when I plug in and use with the speakers I am able to get full 4.1 sound without
of course the centre speaker - so the back satellite speakers work
fine.
Do you have any suggestions on how to set up
the new 5.1 card to get it to work properly. I have had a terrible
time of this and found your site helpful. Am hoping you may be able to
offer some advice.
Cheers,
David |
