At least that way, Italian readers know they are in front of a technical term with a meaning of its own, and it harmonizes with the unified euro effort outlined above. I *still* haven't got over a scanner being "uno scanner" in Italian as "scannare" is "to slay someone/thing by cutting their throat" (!)
