I frequent the GIMPnet irc stuff... #gimp, #gnome, etc. there are
almost no girls! and sometimes i have to send pictures just to prove im
a girl!
in a lot of ways it is rather sad that there arent more girls involved
in these things. maybe everyone except me and telsa gets tired of men
wandering into porn discussions on channel.
right now i am planning guadec... the gnome user and developer european
conference... and i am just so happy! i now have 3 whole women slotted
for giving talks. we have about 30 talks and only 3 women. i am hoping
that out of about 200 developers to have all of about 10 women at the
conference. where are all the girls??
an interesting note... these three women... one does help and docs
stuff, one is the PR person, and one does UI. do women tend to stay
away from the really technical stuff? is this something that needs to
be fixed with the world?
