I have ridden this portion of the trail on Panaracer Pasela 32s Non-TG and was just fine. 5 of us rode from Pittsburgh to DC in 5 days and had nary a flat among us. Tires ranged from 28mm "touring tires" to lightweight Vittoria Cyclocross tires. I think you'll be fine. Cheers, Sean --- On Fri

A trailer brings its own set of load-bearing wheels, which a bike seat does not. The hitch is the only contact with your bike. It puts pressure on your chain stays, but I have hauled two kids, picnic lunch, etc, clamped to the back of a steel Bianchi with far less robustness than your Hilsen. N
