VO Reading from inactive tabs in Safari on the Mac

Hi, I have a pretty old MacBook Pro and I’ve only just updated to sierra. I am now having a problem in Safari that I’ve never experienced before. I’m trying to read a webpage but voiceover keeps reading out what sounds like snippets of information from some other tabs which are present bit which a

Well, Windows is looking good right now, and maybe I'll get a Windows laptop next, but my Mac has lasted for years. But yes, Windows 10, with Thunderbird, which isn't accessible on the mac, and Firefox, does look pretty darn good, along with Quick Windows Sequencer, and all the console emulators
