I don't really know at this time why convert failed.
but there is a bug in lyx, too. an
Hi Herbert -
Wow - talk about fast replies.
I have attached one of the epsi files to this email (*not* in this newsgroup
posting - I have sent a separate email directly).
I think, though, that the problem might be with "convert". When running it
from the command line I can re-create the lyx c

I think both Tim and Richard have found this out.
You need to upgrade to at least gcc-2.95.1 for LyX to compile.
If you install gcc-2.95.3 on your machine, it may work. If not, a simple
``rpm --rebuild'' will fix it for you (without a cra

The latest version from the Redhat 6.2 update channel (provided by
red-carpet updater). Not sure exactly what the number is until I get
home from work. However, others have reported th

Hi Kayvan,
I (and others on the lyx-users list) have had problems installing the
lyx-1.2.0 rpms on redhat 6.2 because it is missing the library file:
libstdc++-libc6.1-2.so.3.
My system has the libstdc++-2.9.0-30 rpm installed (the latest that
rpmfind found) which provides libstdc++-libc6.1

Hi All -
First off, congrats to the lyx team for bringing out 1.2.0. I want to make
sure that the small critiques I have don't mask the fact that lyx is really
a great tool - certainly one without which I'd be stuck.
I am running lyx 1.2.0 off a standard Mandrake 8.2 box. I download
Ok, I had a look at the libraries:
The one from daniel with the library that works has the comment (which
is identical to RH 7.0):
The libstdc++ package contains a snapshot of the GCC Standard C++
Library v3, an ongoing project to implement the ISO 14882 Standard C++
library.

Indeed... I think he must be using a non-standard 6.2 install.
Can we maybe get in contact with hi
Tim and Richard,
there is a remark in Kayvan readme that notes he uses RedHat
Linux/GNU 6.2.
Then, did he really use the same compiler, i.e.egcs release
1.1.2? What compiler
are you using Tim?

No I haven't, and not sure why it would work.
The problem is not that the library file isn't registered with rpm, but
simply that it doesn't exist on my system.

No, I hadn't thought of that. I suppose there might have been little
enough changed between the -1 and -2 versions for it to work. Will try
it this evening when I
