Hi all
I'm installing debian on a 486 laptop, and want to use it for X, IRC, www and
email, so which window manager is best to use for the 100MHz laptop with 20mb
RAM, and which IRC, WWW and email clients would also be good to use here?
Thanks very much for your help in advance
Cheers - Piers

Hi,
I'm wondering if someone's got some experience with the acme package.
The packege description is:

the "multimedia buttons" found on laptops
I have a Compaq 1800-18XL484 with those funny multimedia buttons which

I upgraded SA to the 2.54 version from apt-get.org. Now, it seems, NO
spam is detected. Looking at the headers, it gives everything a 0 score.
It also says "test=0", as if it's not checking anything. Is there some
configuration piece that got missed or that I need to set by hand?

Hi,
I have a logitech quickcam web and I use this:
qce-source - source code for QuickCam Express kernel module
of course, you must be using a kernel with video4linux and usb support
(a stock kernel has support for all those modules) to use the webcam.
(and the mic doesn't function, but I've ne

On Debian sid, I've been trying to install xfree86. After installation
(including xserver-xfree86, xserver-common, and xfree86-common), it
seems there was a problem creating /etc/X11/XF86Config-4, /etc/X11/X,
and /etc/X11/Xwrapper.config. Long story short, they're not there. I've
tried doing a dpk

I am looking for a good forum (or some people) who could help me
with a couple of CSS (cascading stylesheet) problems. Does anyone
know a good forum or would be willing to help me out?
Thanks,

Hi all,
I am fairly new to Debian, but have used Mandrake and Redhat for a couple
of years.
I have had a Debian Woody box running for a few months running the stock
2.2.20-idepci kernel, and decided it was time to upgrade.
The box is a AMD XP 1800 with 256Mb DDR266 RAM.
I ran:
apt-get install
I have installed Debian GNU/Linux 3.0 rl "Woody" Official
i386.
I'm trying to use an application called Cyberdocs on this computer : this
application have to open OpenOffice.org to convert word documents to XML.
This process is triggered by a java application. Everything is properly
installed.

The first place you should look is
/usr/share/doc//README.Debian for any Debian quirks.
Some packages also have a NEWS.Debian for important thing you
