Use black iron pipe. Zinc gives off nasty fumes the first few hours that are
poisonous. There is actually something like "welder's flue" you get from
breathing it. I usually plan on getting 4 years or so out of the pipe before I
take it off and check it.

You can find some LEDs to put in the existing fixtures for anywhere from a
couple dollars on up. I am right now putting red LEDs and a while cold-cathode
light into an Aqua Signal cabin
My keel bolts all had steel backing plates that were rusting to pieces. I
replaced them with stainless steel. Not a hard job out of the water if you have
a B-A-S (big..socket)

I use a U-1 sized battery for a starting battery. These are about 35 AH and

The 35-1 will have a "crack" if the keel bolts need tightening, AKA the C&C
Smile, but AFAIK the keel stub itself stays on the hull with no cracks.
BTW - while the 35 is a lightly built boat and a bit flexible, ours has taken a
pounding and then some in 20 foot breaking seas and hung in there.

I have posted this before, but I don't want to miss anyone.
If you have a C&C 35 MK I with *any* of the original fuel system in place, you
may have a dangerous condition. My original fuel fill hose and 90 degree rubber
elbow were both being eaten away by ethanol gas. The elbow leaked fuel onto th
IMHO a LF38 is the wrong boat for a budget refurb operation.
The hull is cored along with the deck, the rigging is rod, and the engine is a
V-drive unit.
A new engine, rod rigging, and sails are going to be very expensive. If the
boat has really been let go, you might have hull issues to deal wit
The washer plates under the nuts were badly corroded on my boat. I replaced
them with stainless steel ones and have had no more issues. The bolts
themselves looked fine, but I am not sure how easy it is to tell visually.

The valves will drive you nuts. My grill tank has one and it causes a lot of
low gas pressure issues.
