I suspect C&C got a deal way back in the day on 16 gauge untinned rolls of copper wire. That seems to have been what all the old boats were wired with whether they needed it or not. Now in 2014 most boat builders would have rolls of tinned duplex sitting around. It really is a "style" issue more than electrical which one you pick now as long as it is *tinned wire*. I have done well at this FleaBay store getting wire at good prices over the years : http://stores.ebay.com/genuinedealz/

It all depends on what type is available in the size that I need. If duplex is available I go for that. Duplex will be better protected from chafe and damage. However, Once you calculate the recommended wire size for primary wire, increase it one size for duplex wire because it will run hotter in the sheath. I routinely strip a single wire out of duplex when I need it. Dennis C. Our very own web site, thank you Stu, has all the info you need to determine wire size. Remember distance is the return journey, not just one way. The Monitor wire is probably small current flow, 16 gauge or smaller like lampcord. The solar panel probably requires heavier wire, # 4 or larger like jumper cables? I'd follow the manufacturer's recs and buy that type, a little longer than estimated. -- Joel 301 541 8551<tel:301%20541%208551> _______________________________________________ This List is provided by the C&C Photo Album http://www.cncphotoalbum.com CnC-List@cnc-list.com<mailto:CnC-List@cnc-list.com> _______________________________________________ This List is provided by the C&C Photo Album http://www.cncphotoalbum.com CnC-List@cnc-list.com<mailto:CnC-List@cnc-list.com>
