months.
Been tempted to try black shoe polish or one of the automotive "black" trim

Probably. It's worked on my binnacle cover for about 10 years. (Chrome looks

You already got a few answers on what it's used for (mast pumping,
bending the mast).
In case you didn't already pick this up...you (and I) have them because
our shrouds are in-line and not swept aft.
Even my old pearson had 2 sets of lower shrouds (one forward, one aft),

spinnaker pole problems. Popping my babystay off is like releasing a chain
binder on a big rig. So, quite often (most often) is doesn't happen.

You can adjust the fleeb setting inside the switch for the delay setting.
