Rick, there was a lengthy discussion of propane tanks and valves following your
question. You missed all that...???

Better check what the manufacturer states. If it's got a medium base,
convention dictates that the screw part is negative and the button is positive.
I sure don't like using AC fixtures for DC circuits or appliances

Chris: all manufacturers are minimising the chances that you, and they, may
have a problem. I have mounted many units immediately adjacent to compasses
with no apparent effect. However, I have always done a trial fit first to make
sure. Be very careful of power leads near compasses. They can of

My void was filled with epoxy during the keel R&R. They used a lot! Several
gallons. I will be poking around again this spring to see if I can locate the
source. The drain hole from the forward cabin that runs back to the bilge is
highly suspect.

Hi Mike,
I just bought a '75 30MK1 with a sagging mast step. After pulling the mast
and taking out the old mast step, I found a deep hole that could never drain
back to the bilge pump. It was full of a foul smelling black goo that had
probably been there for 37 years stinkin' up the joint. Afte

It depends on the fixture -- many newer LED fixtures use LED drivers that are
polarity-independent, and also somewhat voltage-independent. So if your
alternator is putting out 14.4 volts, you won't fry your 12-volt LED fixture.

I second Martin's comment - rotten balsa core smell is awful and probably
oozing black. It has an acid, chemical smell to it that is very different
from the sulphurous smell from anaerobic bacteria or the readily

A black smelly area sure sounds like mold/mildew to me. Try bleach. The house I
