When I had my keel dropped, to repair the smile, we discovered a large void around the forward keel bolt. When hosed out from below, a very bad smell emanated from the area around the forward keel bolt hole. When the keel was remounted (after grinding the bottom of the stub and the top of the keel) using epoxy, about a gallon of epoxy was needed to fill the void. Many years later - no smile; no smell.
