Alan,

 

My void was filled with epoxy during the keel R&R.  They used a lot!  Several 
gallons.  I will be poking around again this spring to see if I can locate the 
source.  The drain hole from the forward cabin that runs back to the bilge is 
highly suspect.

When I had my keel dropped, to repair the smile, we discovered a large void 
around the forward keel bolt.  When hosed out from below, a very bad smell 
emanated from the area around the forward keel bolt hole.  When the keel was 
remounted (after grinding the bottom of the stub and the top of the keel) using 
epoxy, about a gallon of epoxy was needed to fill the void.  Many years later - 
no smile; no smell.
