Alan,
My void was filled with epoxy during the keel R&R. They used a lot! Several gallons. I will be poking around again this spring to see if I can locate the source. The drain hole from the forward cabin that runs back to the bilge is highly suspect. When I had my keel dropped, to repair the smile, we discovered a large void around the forward keel bolt. When hosed out from below, a very bad smell emanated from the area around the forward keel bolt hole. When the keel was remounted (after grinding the bottom of the stub and the top of the keel) using epoxy, about a gallon of epoxy was needed to fill the void. Many years later - no smile; no smell.
