I have a Raymarine C7 plotter on the binnacle within about ½ a foot of the compass with no particular issues. Built a folding teak cockpit table/drink and junk holder with room on top for the plotter. FYI

Now I need some advice. I want to mount a small chartplotter (5" or 6" screen) at the binnacle, which would place it very close to my magnetic compass. Seems all the models on the market today - Raymarine, Garmin, Standard Horizon, etc - require a separation between the two, anywhere from 12" up to 3 ft. Makes it rather difficult to accomplish on a 30ft boat. I couldn't be the first sailor to face this dilemma, so any ideas or suggestions would be most welcome. Thanks!
