If interfaces
are numbered in a way, that violates this, the kernel warns about
this. In your case, bNumInterfaces probably is 6, but Lexicon counts
from 0 to 5 like this: 0, 1, 2, 4, 6, 7 where 3 and 5 are missing, and
6 and 7 are illegal.
I guess, Lexicon has never read the USB spec and
to play that file, either use a player, that converts it
to the correct current channel count (and sample format and sample
rate) or use the "plughw:1" device or another device that does
automatic conversion.

For simple needs I would recommend the Terratec Aureon. Not expensive

simply a hardware issue. It's a bit like two people trying to play the
same saxophone at the same time: it won't fly.
You should get a real multichannel card or two cards that provide a
way to be synced to each other like the M-Audio Delta cards should do
(never tried) or the RME

No, it means, that the Aureon USB uses the same mixer settings for all
6/2 output rsp. input channels. Think of it like a Volume knob for the
whole device.
