So what is the reason, that you don't like it? I like this attitude... ;) I didn't knew about KHdRecord, but I see one problem. It seems to only use OSS as well, which can be a problem especially on ICE1712 chips. For me, nothing beats ecasound in regard to reliably and quick recording, if you can live with the command line.
