Hi,
I upgraded from Mandrake kernel-2.4-13-7mdk to kernel-2.4.13-12mdk.
When I recompiled alsa0.9.0beta9, I get the following error.

Sorry,
It has been so long since I had started from a new

Hi,
I put RedHat7.2 on a new Athlon XP box.
I have a Delta 44 (ice1712) and a Sblive (emu10k1).
I compiled the 0.9.0beta9 stuff, and that went clean, but
now I'm having trouble with the mixers.
When I run amixer, I get:
amixer: Mixer attach default error: No such file or directory

Is their a specific reason that you need two os's? Couldn't you just
format your second HDD and mount it via /etc/fstab? Then you will have
more usable space and won't have to configure everything twice. I h

Hi,
Ive just Installed the Alsa-0.9 drivers for my SB Live 5.1 emu101k (on
RH 7.2) and everything went fine (apart from the alsa-oss-0.9.0beta9
ones, error during the 'make'), I presume I don't need these??
Ive also ran .snddevices
Ive used the following command to load the SB drivers:

Hi-
I'm looking to get a sound card for my linux box which supports S/PDIF output

online, and I just can't find information about drivers supporting sound
card's digital outputs.

the only thing i've found is to use "modinfo -p " on the module,
which will give a terse description of the options it supports.

ALSA is an absolute BEAR to install!!
Is there any comprehensive documentation anywhere discussing the internals
which might be useful to someone trying to solve a problem such as the
follwoing?

Dear all:
Now I have a problem in
installation of MySQL.
I hope to install
"mysql-3.23.40.tar.gz"
When I run "./configure
--prefix=/usr/local/mysql --with-charset=big5",
it would have the configure
message and listed the error below:

Hi,
I have SiS 7018 PCI Audio 4DWave(snd-card-trident) that just wont

but when I do aplay it seems to run ok and doesnt give me
any error message but nothing comes out...
The pc speaker works out of the sound card tho
I was listening to MIDI files last night under both kernels. Now ALSA is
broken again.
The MIDI stuff is very tenuous and keeps going away, even though NOTHING in
my configuration has changed. I'm trying to play a MIDI file right now, and
nothing is happening at all. Most perplexing, since

Hi,
Iam using RH 7.2 with the standard kernal and have succesfully managed to
get the alsa-driver,alsa-libs,alsa-utils installed.
Iam using a Yamaha Corporation YMF-724 sound card.

So am I correct
Try by using the envy24control utility provided with the alsa-tools package.

hi to everybody,
I compiled the alsa-driver version 0.5.10b for a Delta 1010 (ice1712).
I try to record a 12 channels wav file with arecord, everythings ok but
I can't set the input gain of each channel. How can I do this?
thanks. Gianni.
p.s.: can I link the input of each channels in their o
Hi,
Don't know if this'll work, but it might be worth a shot: did you try
changing the path mentioned in the error message? I don't know C, but
it looks to me like your final error could be caused by the first
error.

Hello,
I have a MSI K7T 266 mainboard with on-board sound, reported as VIA AC97
Audio Controller.
In fact the program from RedHat finds it, but says it is not
supported and indicates that ALSA has a driver for this. And indeed ALSA
has a driver called via686a from version 0.5.9.
So I tried to in
