I'm using KDE 2.2.2 w/ALSA 0.9b9, and a SBLive! Mandrake 8.1, kernel
2.4.14 (from kernel.org sources, not from Mandrake).

ALSA compiled with
--with-debug=full --with-sequencer=yes --with-oss=yes --with-cards=all

I can get KDE to play sounds if I set it to use OSS as it's Sound I/O
Method; setting it to use ALSA results in no sound. Also, I see no MIDI
devices at all.

cat /proc/asound/sndstat:

So ... what am I missing, to get MIDI devices listed, so that I can play
MIDI files thru my sound card?

Also, why would KDE not output sound if I set the Sound I/O Method to
ALSA?

System sounds work; RealPlayer works; XMMS works; etc. KDE Media Player
does NOT (not that I really need it)

Any help greatly appreciated.
