Hi,

Ive just Installed the Alsa-0.9 drivers for my SB Live 5.1 emu101k (on
RH 7.2) and everything went fine (apart from the alsa-oss-0.9.0beta9
ones, error during the 'make'), I presume I don't need these??

Ive also ran .snddevices

Ive used the following command to load the SB drivers:

/sbin/modprobe snd-card-emu10k1

and the output is as follows:

snd-card-emu10k1 2384 1
snd-emu10k1 51088 0 [snd-card-emu10k1]
snd-rawmidi 12352 0 [snd-emu10k1]
snd-pcm 50176 0 [snd-emu10k1]
snd-timer 9968 0 [snd-pcm]
snd-util-mem 1664 0 [snd-emu10k1]
snd-ac97-codec 23216 0 [snd-emu10k1]
snd-hwdep 3760 0 [snd-emu10k1]
snd-seq-device 4144 0 [snd-card-emu10k1 snd-rawmidi]
snd 27680 1 [snd-card-emu10k1 snd-emu10k1
snd-rawmidi snd-pcm snd-timer snd-util-mem snd-ac97-codec snd-hwdep
snd-seq-device]
soundcore 4464 2 [snd]

Ive also removed the previous oss section from /etc/modules.conf and
added this:

alias char-major-116 snd
alias snd-card-0 snd-card-emu10k1

I know the card can be seen as asmixer can see it and also the output
of:

cat /proc/asound/cards

0 [card0 ]: EMU10K1 - Sound Blaster Live!
Sound Blaster Live! at 0xe400, irq 10

When I use aplay file.wav, It plays it but I get no sound, and also when
I try to open the Gnome Mixer, I get the error:

'I was unable to open your audio device, please check you have
permission'

Ive read thru the Howto and the README's,INSTALL files, but Iam still
unable to cure this problem..

Regards

Mark
