If you're considering a heavy-ish load on the front end of your
Rambouillet, you might do some research. I do not claim to actually know a
thing about this, but I have asked myself about the same modifications, so
I did some digging around on the web, and I found a handful of comments
stating that the Ram is designed to be rear-loaded, that the fork isn't
raked properly for front loading, and that the Ram gets squirrelly when
front loaded. Or maybe you have loaded your old bike as much as you mean
to load the new one, and it was just fine, in which case I'd like to hear
that.

IMO, the bobbish thing to do (yes, I realize I'm not on bob right now)
would be to celebrate the "beausage", use p-clamps as you have always done,
and use the money saved to buy nice racks and bags But, if you do modify
and paint, perhaps you might want to ask someone smart about the idea of
re-raking the fork for front loading. The suggestion regarding brazed-on
Paul brakes is a very smart and sexy suggestion, and would definitely
contribute to making the bike your own, although it will also add cost to
cost.

(who sold his 58 orange, which was a tad small, then bought a 60 blue, and
then sold the 60 blue to buy a 60 orange, because Rambouillets are intended
to be orange.)
