I think any time you are doing a repaint it is a great time to think about braze ons. Mid-fork braze-ons are a super enhancement for any bike.
While you are at it, I will add that I really like fork tips that have a braze on both on top and underneath. The underneath one you'll use for a fender and some racks. The one on top is useful for the Hub Area Rack. A Ram would be a splendid summer overnighter bike with a Hub Area Rack.
