The other thing about reading the text/plain attachment of email is no
vulnerability exposure due to the HTML downloading some file (think <img or
javascript) that exploits a browser vulnerability.

Also the <img could be a beacon -- a tracker that notes that the email has been
read and records your IP address and other browser identification that it can
slurp up.

You also get such increased security if you choose the HTML attachment (v
command in mutt) and convert to text for viewing (with w3m or something).
