Planned maintenance:

Commercial Dedicated - We send out a notice about 1 week ahead of time, then at the start and completion of the event.

Residential - If it's going to be more than 5 minutes we post to Facebook a day before and put a notice up on our phone system. If it's going to be less than 5 minutes (e.g. rebooting an AP) we don't do anything.

All of this work is scheduled in our 2-4am time window and we have a fair amount of redundancy. Unless what we are doing is affecting the access equipment normally it doesn't take anything down.
