Sen
James,
The VNCviewer that freezes (in our case) is a Windows 2000 box.
VNCserver is running on an NT box.The symptom is that the cursor
(mouse) freezes on the vncviewer window, only allowing us to move the dot.
We can move up and close the vncviewer window and restart the viewer and
continue
VNCviewer is running on a WinNT4 machine and the WinVNC (App Mode) is
running on a Win2k Pro system.
Version 3.3.3r9
I have not noticed it freezing when I minimize/restore the window. I can
connect and just move the mouse around for a short period of time before the
cursor freezes. The longes

Where do you check "poll full window" ?

I have seen this happen when using vnc between win2k boxes. I am controlling

This sounds more as if the Service Helper isn't running. If the Service
Helper doesn't run then WinVNC doesn't know a user has logged on, so it will
pick the wrong registry settings.
You can check by looking for the VNC tray icon.

I'm using WinVNC 3.3.3r9 as a service under Windows2000.
Normally I don't use the ServiceHelper, because there is
only one user on this system (and I have enough symbols in the tray ;-)).

Nope. We have reproduced this behavior between two boxes (NT W2K) that are

In our case the machines are using token ring; however, t
You are correct in describing the screen that I could not describe so

I understand what you are saying and you are right, AFAIK, about the

Ummm... UDP is the unreliable protocol family. TCP has guaranteed in-order delivery
of all packets. If that guarantee is broken, the connection is supposed to be
severed. If you are actually losing TCP pa

I think the question is: Given you have the ability to manipulate the

disappear from the SysTray?
With TridiaVNC, they have an option
\HKLM\SOFTWARE\ORL\WinVNC3\Default\DisableTrayIcon which I set to 1 with no
success.
I get a similar problem, where the caps lock becomes inverted, often the
machine running the winvnc.exe server will have the caps light off, but it
will actually be in UPPER CASE mode, pressing the caps lock button turns off
caps lock but the caps lock light comes on.
It really confuses users.

vncserver works well for normal user.
No priviledge required.
If Xvnc does not work, then check FAQ (#23).

I wanted to know how to start the vncserver in solaris
