I've remark a new bug that is interesting. I use exclusively Ubuntu 8.10 on my
macbook 3,1 and when I reduce the luminosity of my screen (touch F1 on my Mac)
at a moment it becomes completely dark (no light anymore). Then, I can press F2

I've tested what Andrew suggested but with less modifications: I only
downgraded the gnome-session, the gnome-panel is intact. Now the
gnome-session remeber what applications you have marked to save and where
desktop they were. I did this by removing the gnome-session and installing
the version tha

I have not had a chance to download Kubuntu 8.10 and since 9.04 will be
officially using KDE 4 I doubt the same would apply.

If I change hdparm -S to something high like 7200 then the problem goes
away. In conclusion from all this as stated earlier, hdparm -S
overrides hdparm -B, which it shouldn't according to the man page.

As Sarah pointed out, waiting and refreshing makes everything work
nicely. The added token at the end is generated by Launchpad and
returned to the launchpad-integration package in an X-Launchpad-Blob-
Token header (James Westby explained this on IRC).

Thanks for the interest. I will attempt to capture the kernel log next
time the problem occurs. I assume that once I've rebooted after the
incident, the kernel logs in play at the time of the incident will still
be available.

While g-p-m was fixed, powertop still gives the recommendation to kill
it once in a while.
And if you do kill it, then the suspend/resume/reboot menu's go away.

Wow! Changing those nvidia-settings fixed the problem for me, too. Great

I forgot a step, sorry about that. After running the program, click on
the file chooser button and select the tiff image in the cstest
directory. When you click "ok", the crash happens.

I had similar experience with Xubuntu 8.10 image. Installations was fine
but booting gave me weired ASCI caracters and got stuck, not even the
