Public bug reported: I am using Ubuntu 8.10 and trying to install a network shared printer. The printer is Epson D88 installed on a Windows 98 System. I have tried to install via System, Admin, Printer. This is accepted and verified as being accessible. But when I try to print I receive an error message - NT Access denied, opening spool test - then it asks for username and password. It does not accept my credentials. I have tried to install thro' " http://localhost:631/ " I receive printer acceptance but have the same problem when trying to print. I have tried another solution thro' " http://www.debianadmin.com/yet-another-linux-to-windows-printing-tip.html" however this does not resolve the problem. I have also installed " Print Share" thro' " http://www.printeranywhere.com/download-linux.sdf, I cannot get this to work either. I have previously raised a question in Launchpad " Open Question #56043, asked on 2009-01-01 by Mike Bickerdike " - this has not brought a solution. WHEN I was using Ubuntu Hardy Heron 8.04 all worked well !!!!!. My reason for raising a bug report is because I have exhausted all possible solutions known to me, but for some reason I just cannot get acceptance of any user name or password. If it would help I can re-install and submit various error reports that I receive - however I stress that in every instance I receive positive verification of printer acceptance and accessibility.
